Hi, I’m Joey, the dyer behind The Yarn Artist, an independent UK brand specialising in hand dyed yarn inspired by art and colour.

I’ve been dyeing yarn for over five years, and what started as a creative experiment quickly became a full-time passion. With a background in fine art and a Master’s degree in Abstract Painting, colour has always been at the heart of what I do, only now, instead of painting on canvas, I “paint” yarn.

As an indie yarn dyer based in Chester, England, I create small-batch, hand dyed yarns that are bold, vibrant and full of personality. Many of my colourways are inspired by the palettes of famous artists and iconic artworks, while others are born purely from a love of colour and experimentation.

Every skein is carefully dyed by hand in my garden studio, using creative techniques that make each batch unique. Whether you’re knitting, crocheting or weaving, my aim is to create artisan yarn that feels inspiring to work with and brings your projects to life.
